After releasing a series of singles in 2021, San Francisco based artist Ha Vay will be releasing their first EP, “we fell in love at the party” this year.

When first listening to the opening track “don’t look back”, you can’t help yourself but get lost. Maddy Toy’s voice, harmonies, beat, and sound fit so perfectly into this dream-like state that grabs the audience’s attention. With each track telling the story of a night out: running away, getting to the party, locking eyes with someone, and being driven by lust and infatuation; Toy makes you feel like you’re truly alive and floating into heaven.

Having started her musical project in 2020 with collaboration of Elliott Jacobs (audio engineer/producer), the two came together with the help of some friends and have been captivating audiences with their authentic indie pop sound and Toy’s fun dream pop lyrics. The artist creates a feeling of life, energy, hope, and magic. It’s so intoxicating that you’re left with wanting more.

My favorite track is “the exhibitionist”, which is the second song from the EP. Maddy Toy does a great job at setting the scene for the listener; it’s catchy, fun, danceable, and encapsulates the perfect main character moment from start to finish.
