Our photographer Maddie had the opportunity to photograph Renny Conti awhile back! Check out her gallery below! :)

Brooklyn-based Renny Conti is high up on our list of artists to watch right now. After selling out Nightclub 101 with Hiding Places on June 16 (a Monday night of all nights!), he’s announced a touring schedule that includes appearances at London Calling, Pitchfork Paris, and Pitchfork London, as well as an assortment of US dates supporting Merce Lemon in July and Samia in September and October.

Conti’s self-titled album, released earlier this year, was at the crux of his setlist. Included in the mix were “Workhorse,” “Looking at the Geese,” “Room to Room,” and “South Star,” all off the new record. Conti ended his set with “Life on Earth,” which was a highlight of the night in my book. The completely packed house was collectively silent in reverence as his voice floated out “People talk / People walk / And then people die.”

At the conclusion of his set, Conti was met with encore requests (lots of noise was made for “Formspring”) to which Renny said “we don’t have another song.” The crowd didn’t skip a beat before bantering back with an enthusiastic “yes you do!”

Conti, who just finished up a tour with Kevin Atwater, settled on an older track. “We can play one we’ve been playing, but it’s nothing crazy” he said before he eased into “On to Something,” a track off 2022 record might.bail that truly lets his knack for storytelling shine.

Of the new album, Conti says “When the album was recorded, I was experiencing a lot of change, and what felt like endless new beginnings… The creation of this album felt very precarious and urgent. I was so mobile, so untethered, and it was the only real constant in my life at the time.”

EU/UK dates to see Renny Conti and his band are on sale now! In the meantime, let the new album be a companion on your next walk
