my history with this band began in july 2018 at mercury lounge in nyc. i was attending a mini mansions concert that evening and nation of language was the opening band. at that time, i was still quite young so queueing for shows was my usual concert routine. so naturally, i was in the front row. soon the lights dimmed, and I witnessed my first NoL set, which mesmerized me - i remember a friend who i made in line said, "this band is incredible, they're going places." and he was sure right.

while i lived in new york, i made an effort to catch many of nation of language sets as they grew, from an intimate set at the broadway to elsewhere zone 1 and the short-lived venue the dance (one of my personal favorites). then there was the time when no shows were happening and during that time i moved down to south florida, where it tends to be harder for artists to tour. so i've had to follow NoL's success from afar (through my phone screen on social media as well as streaming their fantastic newer albums) and i've felt so proud of their growth. when the miami show was announced back in november of last year, i knew i would be there (hadn't impulsively bought a concert ticket in a long time). only felt right for me to reunite with this band at their miami debut, 8 years after the first time i experienced their music live.
