Megan Colton, one of my favorite Eurydices in Hadestown, played a small, intimate show at the Wonzimer Art Gallery in Los Angeles, giving us a first listen to unreleased songs from her upcoming album, The Loft. Named after her grandparents’ loft cabin, the project was described as a collection of memories, spanning heartbreak ballads, love songs, and what she jokingly called “one of the most evil songs” she has ever written.
A lot of fans in the audience had dressed up following the Americana folk western theme from Megan’s Pinterest board and it was oh so very cute. A special guest in the audience was Hawa Kamara, the current Eurydice in the Hadestown national touring cast. Two Eurydices in one room!
Megan also revealed that she had lost her voice that morning, which made the performance even more impressive. Despite that, she delivered the entire set with remarkably strong vocals from start to finish, a blessing to all our ears.
Please enjoy these photos I captured of the night!
