Since their release of their debut lp, four piece Brooklyn based female rock band, Razor Braids have toured nationally, headlined many venues, and successfully played shows such as the Mercury Lounge and Brooklyn Bowl in just the band’s first year.
Combining elements of heavy punk, indie rock and a 90s alternative atmosphere, Holley Bynum (lead vocalist and bassist), Janie Peacock (lead guitar), Jilly Karande (rhythm guitar and vocals), and Hannah Nichols (drums) give it their all in their latest record release of “I Could Cry Right Now If You Wanted Me To”.
Within the opening track of “Not Dead, Not Yet”, lead vocalist Holley Bynum creates a mellow ambience for the listener then suddenly as the drums and guitar riffs kicks in, you feel like your life is moving so quick. Between dark and heavy bass lines, sweet harmonies, and the switch of slow and chaotic instrumentals, Razor Braids knows how to write and evoke such passionate and emotional lyrics.
“The Drugs Aren’t Working” is easily one of my favorite tracks off the record. You keep wanting more. This album throws you around in the most fun and exciting way and gently lays you down to sleep. “42” is the perfect way to end the album.
