SUB*T after 2 years of learning their instruments and craft they became a rock band consisting of Grace Bennett (Brooklyn) and Jade Alcantara (Oakland) present us with their debut single "Boxing Day" a track that will make you wanting to hear more. Talking about the track, Jade explains “‘Boxing Day’ is a play on words in the sense that obviously Boxing Day is a holiday and that was our metaphor for packing up all this trauma and letting it go. Maybe not even letting it go, but just expressing it in a way that actually made us feel something different.” Going from the mosh pit to making their own music, you can tell they were meant to make music to spread it far and wide. With a mixture of Liz Phair and Veruca Salt, they are putting everything on the table, and never turning back. “I think being a fan of music, and more importantly being a female fan of music, you understand what makes it all so magical. You know what feels safe, you know what feels explosive, you know what feels wrong, and you know what feels harmful. I think that a lot of times there’s a huge disconnect between artists and their fans. Whether or not you have a million people worshipping you and messaging you, that doesn’t mean you understand your fans. I’ve felt this truly deep understanding of what creates a community within music for so long and I think that’s what separates us even when writing songs. We imagine our music for other people, first and foremost,” says Jade. By being fans of music, SUB*T have a better understanding on how to make music, and to bring it to the world for their future fan base. From incredible non-dude rock bands before them, SUB*T prove that they are taking their own spot with "Boxing Day" with both Jade and Grace's vocals fitting so well together, with their incredible word play for lyrics, there's nothing that can stop them now. Everybody will be making noise for SUB*T.
