"is this letting go?" by driveaway

On “Is This Letting Go?”, indie pop band Driveaway deliver a beautifully airy single regarding the whirlwind of emotions that follow letting go of someone in order to grow as your own person. These emotions can be seen with the instrumental build up at the end of the first verse carrying onto the chorus producing a feeling of a cathartic release to the listener, when suddenly it all disappears into a soft melody that has you swaying. The lyrics, along with singer Trenton’s vocals showcase the raw and tender emotions that arise when one realizes that sometimes the decisions that hurt the most are the ones that are beneficial to oneself. Bassist Tanner Ropp says, “This song is for anyone that feels like they are constantly stuck in a rhythm of trying to justify their emotions to others. Sometimes it's okay to let go and take the time to understand your feelings towards yourself”. A song about craving self awareness and letting go that is sure to have the listener feeling like they’re peacefully floating above water with the reassurance that our emotions are messy and muddled but , that’s okay too.
