"kill my mind" by may chi

May Chi is here with her newest single "Kill My Mind" that holds honest lyrics and soft guitar sounds. May sings about how she "(mildly) used alcohol as a coping mechanism, and forced [herself] to move on." When listening to "Kill My Mind," you can tell how honest—and determined—she is to get back to a better place where she isn't using this as a coping mechanism.

It's safe to say that, one of my favorite things about May is that in her music she tells a clear story, and how truthful she is about it. The sound is a lot different from May's previous EP Wayfaring, but that only means that there's growth in her craft. She sings, "I need you now, I don't wanna feel anything tonight." You can hear the dependency in the lyrics, and understand what May is going through. The turn in the lyrics from needing a coping mechanism to not needing one at all is inspiring. It holds true strength, and May proves that it's possible to overcome whatever you are going through.

Keep up with May
