you me at six gallery and review

well hello! sarah saw the very talented You Me At Six in NYC last week along with their amazing openers, Machineheart and Dreamers! here are the photos she got, along with a little review at the end :)

Before the show, I was only familiar with one of the opening bands, Dreamers. They were the only familiar thing to me that night; new venue, new band, new music for me. Not knowing anything about two out of three of the acts excited me and I was intrigued to hear Machineheart and You Me At Six. In my opinion, live shows are the best way to discover new music that you like because you get to experience everything that the band is all about right in front of your eyes. Photographing these shows makes the experience even more incredible because I get to capture these special moments as well. Machineheart was the first band onstage and the lead singer, Stevie Scott took over the stage with her graceful presence. Their lighting was gorgeous, their songs were amazing, and the emotion that Stevie put into her performance was beautiful. Starting their set off with “Overgrown” and ending it off with the powerful song, “Altar”, Machineheart definitely left me wanting to hear more. Dreamers was up next, entering the stage with some friendly waves from Marc Nelson (bassist) and Jacob Wick (drummer) and a playful jump landing at the edge of the stage from Nick Wold (vocalist). They began their set with a single called “Screws”, ended it with a classic called “Sweet Disaster”, and even played a brand new song for the second time ever, called “Die Happy”. Each song had intriguing melodies and smooth vocals sang by Nick, and many of their tracks have harmonies sung by Jacob, who hits each high note effortlessly. Dreamers’ set ended with Nick jumping down in front of the barricade to dance with the crowd, which left everyone excited and energized for the main act. While in the photo pit, I could hear the excited fans behind me talking non-stop about how happy they were to be there. When the lights went down and the drummer, Daniel Flint, walked onstage with his drumsticks in the air, the crowd went crazy. They started off the night with “Fast Forward”, and captured the audience’s attention throughout the whole night. Each song had powerful, catchy guitar riffs, and Josh Franceschi’s amazing vocal range stunned the audience with each song. The connection the band had with the crowd was amazing, and they created a wonderful welcoming atmosphere for everyone who attended. Josh made it clear that they promoted kindness, inclusivity, and friendship only, and he immediately established a warm environment for everyone. By making jokes in between songs and interacting with people in the audience, Josh created a light-hearted and happy vibe at the show. Right before the encore, a young boy around age 10 was brought up onstage to dance onstage with the band and you could tell it made his night. After giving a powerful ending to the show, You Me At Six left me very happy that I attended that night. They made me want to discover more of their music, and I will definitely be seeing them again when they come back around to New York!
